Terms of Use
Last updated: October 13, 2026
Summary
This summary is here to help you read the Terms. It doesn't replace them.
- Scan runs in your browser. Your app file is never uploaded. Results are informational, not a certification or legal advice.
- Only scan apps you're allowed to scan.
- You keep your rights in your apps. We may publish de-identified, aggregated statistics that don't identify you or your app.
- Don't copy or extract our rules, data or reports, and don't use them to build a competing product or AI model. Open-source parts are governed by their own licenses.
- The Services are free and provided "as is," and our liability is limited.
- Wisconsin law applies, and we'll try to resolve any dispute informally first.
1. Who we are and what these terms cover
These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Stdio Labs LLC, a Wisconsin limited liability company doing business as Adaptwise ("Adaptwise," "we," "us," "our"). You can reach us at legal@adaptwise.io or by mail in Baldwin, Wisconsin, USA.
These Terms cover your use of:
- our websites, including adaptwise.io, adaptwise.dev, adaptwise.app and getadaptwise.com (the "Sites")
- Adaptwise Scan, our free app readiness scanner (the "Scan")
- our waitlist, newsletter, reports and contact forms
Together these are the "Services." Paid products (such as the Android Studio plugin, hosted services, agents and professional services) will have their own terms, which will apply alongside these Terms when you use them.
By using the Services you agree to these Terms. If you use the Services on behalf of a company or other organization, you confirm that you are authorized to accept these Terms for it, and "you" includes that organization. If you don't agree, please don't use the Services.
You must be at least 18 years old to use the Services.
2. Adaptwise Scan
How the Scan works. The Scan analyzes an Android app package (APK or AAB) that you select, inside your web browser. Your app file is not uploaded to our servers.
Full report. If you ask for the full report by email, your browser sends us the scan results needed to write it:
- whether the file is an APK or an App Bundle, and the overall result
- each native library's path inside the package, its CPU architecture, and its pass or fail result with the reasons
We use these only to generate and send your report; we don't store them. Our Privacy Policy explains what we receive and how long we keep it.
Anonymous scan statistics. Unless you untick "Share anonymous results," your browser also sends us anonymous facts about each native library in the scanned app: its fingerprint, file name, size, CPU architecture and result, plus the scan date. It never sends the app file, the app's package name, your email or your IP address. Our Privacy Policy describes this in detail.
Only scan apps you're allowed to scan. You must own the app or have permission to analyze it. Don't use the Scan to analyze apps in a way that breaks their license terms or the law.
What the results are, and aren't. Scan results are informational. They are based on Google's published requirements and guidance at the time of the scan, plus our analysis.
Results are not:
- a guarantee that Google Play or any other store will accept your app or update
- a certification of compliance with any law, regulation or policy
- legal advice
Requirements and deadlines can change. Platform owners such as Google make the final decisions. You are responsible for testing your app and confirming its compliance before release.
Badges and shared reports. If we offer a badge or shareable report link, it reflects the result of a specific scan at a specific time. You may not change it, or present it as an endorsement or certification by Adaptwise or Google.
3. Waitlist, emails and reports
If you join our waitlist, request a report or subscribe to updates, we will send you the emails you asked for. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the link in every email. We may still send you messages you specifically requested, such as a report you asked for.
4. Your content and feedback
Your content. You keep all rights in your apps and anything you submit to us ("Your Content"). You give us a limited license to process Your Content only as needed to provide the Services you request, such as generating and emailing a report, to use anonymous scan statistics you share (see Section 2), and as described in our Privacy Policy.
De-identified, aggregated data. We may combine scan results from many users into de-identified, aggregated statistics, for example how often a given SDK version is misaligned. We use these to improve the Services, including our SDK compatibility knowledge. Aggregated statistics do not identify you, your organization or your app. We may publish them, such as in reports on ecosystem readiness.
Feedback. If you send us suggestions or feedback, you give us a free, perpetual, worldwide license to use it without obligation to you. We don't claim ownership of your ideas, and you remain free to use them.
5. Our intellectual property
The Services and their content belong to Adaptwise or our licensors. This includes our software, websites, analysis methods, rules, databases, reports, designs, text, graphics, and the Adaptwise name and logos. They are protected by intellectual property and trade secret laws.
We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Services for your own internal purposes under these Terms. We reserve all rights not expressly granted.
Open-source components. Some materials we publish, such as open agent skills and the source code of the Scan checks and command-line tool, are offered under separate open-source licenses (for example Apache-2.0). Those licenses govern those materials, and nothing in these Terms limits the rights they grant you.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Services in violation of any law, or to analyze apps you don't have the right to analyze.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble or try to derive the source code, rules, models or data behind the Services, except to the extent applicable law expressly permits it despite this restriction, or an open-source license that applies to the material permits it (see Open-source components in Section 5).
- Scrape, crawl or systematically query the Services. This includes sending large numbers of crafted or synthetic inputs to reconstruct, copy or extract our rules, scoring, SDK database or other data.
- Use the Services, their outputs or their behavior to build, train or improve a competing product, dataset or AI model.
- Get around rate limits, access controls, security measures or usage limits, or access the Services by automated means other than interfaces we provide for that purpose.
- Interfere with or disrupt the Services, or introduce malware or harmful code.
- Upload or submit files you know to be malicious, or that contain personal data you have no right to share.
- Misrepresent your identity or affiliation, or impersonate anyone.
- Remove or alter any proprietary notices, or misrepresent Scan results, badges or reports.
- Resell, sublicense or offer the Services to third parties as your own service without our written permission.
Good-faith security research is welcome under our Vulnerability Disclosure Policy, which takes precedence over this section for activity within its scope.
7. Third parties
Third-party services and links. The Services may link to or rely on third-party websites and services, such as Google documentation and SDK vendor pages. We don't control them and aren't responsible for their content, accuracy or practices. Your use of them is governed by their own terms.
Google, Android, Google Play and related marks are trademarks of Google LLC. Adaptwise is not affiliated with or endorsed by Google.
Copyright and trademark complaints. We respect the rights of others. If you believe something on the Services infringes your copyright or trademark, email legal@adaptwise.io with:
- the work or mark you believe is infringed
- where the material appears on the Services (for example, its URL)
- your name and contact details
- a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn't authorized by the owner, its agent or the law
- a statement that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act for the owner
- your physical or electronic signature
We will review the notice and remove or change the material where appropriate.
8. Changes to the Services and these Terms
We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the Services at any time. Free Services may change or end without notice.
We may update these Terms. If a change is material, we will post the updated Terms with a new "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, notify you, for example by email if you subscribed. Changes apply from their effective date. If you continue using the Services after that date, you accept the updated Terms. We keep previous versions of these Terms and will send you a copy on request.
9. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Services at any time. We may suspend or end your access if we reasonably believe you have broken these Terms, if required by law, or to protect the Services or others.
Sections 4 (aggregated data and feedback), 5, 6, 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14 survive termination.
10. Disclaimers
THE SERVICES, INCLUDING SCAN RESULTS AND REPORTS, ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
WE DON'T WARRANT THAT:
- THE SERVICES WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE
- RESULTS WILL BE COMPLETE OR CORRECT
- YOUR APP WILL BE ACCEPTED BY ANY STORE OR MEET ANY LEGAL OR POLICY REQUIREMENT
11. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:
- (a) ADAPTWISE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, GOODWILL OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES, INCLUDING LOSSES FROM A REJECTED OR DELAYED APP RELEASE.
- (b) OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICES IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICES IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR US $100.
Some jurisdictions don't allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
12. Indemnity
If you use the Services for a business, you will defend and indemnify Adaptwise against third-party claims arising from:
- your breach of these Terms
- your misuse of the Services
- your analysis of apps you weren't permitted to analyze
13. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wisconsin, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
Before starting any formal proceeding, both parties agree to try to resolve disputes informally for 30 days after written notice. If that fails, disputes will be resolved in the state and federal courts located in Wisconsin, and you and we consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
Either party may seek injunctive relief in court to protect intellectual property or confidential information.
If you are a consumer in the EU, UK or another jurisdiction whose mandatory laws give you the right to bring claims in your local courts, or that protect you regardless of the law chosen in these Terms, those rights are not affected.
14. General
- Entire agreement. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, Cookie Notice, Vulnerability Disclosure Policy and any product-specific terms, are the entire agreement between you and us about the Services.
- Severability and waiver. If any provision is unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. Not enforcing a provision is not a waiver.
- Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our consent. We may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.
- Export and sanctions. You confirm you are not barred from receiving the Services under US or other applicable export control or sanctions laws.
- Electronic communications. You agree that notices and agreements we provide electronically satisfy any requirement to be in writing.
